Mental Health Workshop at GES – A Step Towards Emotional Well-being

A highly engaging and insightful Mental Health Workshop was conducted at Goregaon Education Society’s School on October 7, 2025, with the aim of promoting emotional well-being and self-awareness among students.
The session was conducted by Dr. Shefali Shah, an eminent psychiatrist.

Dr. Shefali Shah addressed students on the importance of maintaining a healthy mind and balanced emotions in today’s fast-paced world. Through interactive discussions and real-life examples, she helped students understand how to recognize and manage stress, anxiety, and peer pressure effectively.

The workshop highlighted the importance of self-awareness, teaching students to identify and express their emotions in a healthy manner. Practical coping techniques such as mindfulness, positive thinking, and deep-breathing exercises were shared, empowering students to stay calm and focused during challenging times, especially around examinations.

Students also learned how to build resilience and confidence, communicate effectively, and maintain supportive friendships. The workshop emphasized the significance of empathy and respect, helping to create a more compassionate and inclusive school environment.

According to Dr. Shah, “Mental health is as important as physical health. When students learn to care for their minds, they perform better, think clearer, and grow into emotionally strong individuals.”

The initiative received heartfelt appreciation from students and teachers alike for creating awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.
The schools play a crucial role in nurturing not just intellectual, but also emotional well-being.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where students shared their thoughts and clarified doubts with enthusiasm. The workshop served as a gentle reminder that a healthy mind is the foundation of a happy and successful life.
